Some lottery games have huge cash prizes. The Mega Millions, for instance, requires players to pick five numbers from a pool of numbers between 1 and 70. These numbers are chosen randomly.<\/p>\n

The first lottery was held in France, in the year 1539. King Francis I of France decided to organize a lottery in his kingdom. The Loterie Royale was authorized by an edict of Chateaurenard.<\/p>\n

Lotteries were popular in the Netherlands during the 17th century. They were often held to raise funds for poor people. The Roman Empire was also known to use lotteries to raise money for projects. These included fortification, fortification of roads, and canals.<\/p>\n
