Poker is a card game in which players bet on their hand by placing chips into the center of the table. The game can be played by 2 or more people and the object is to win the pot, which is the sum of all bets made during a single deal. There are many different forms of poker, but all require skill and strategy to be successful.<\/p>\n
In most games there are four suits (spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs) but some also have wild cards which can take on any suit or rank. There are also specific ranks of hands, the highest winning hand being five of a kind. Typically, the game will require one or more forced bets to start, either an ante or a blind bet (or both). Cards are then shuffled and dealt to each player in turn, beginning with the chair on their right.<\/p>\n
During the betting rounds players must decide how to play their hands, based on their position at the table and the strength of their hand. If a player has a strong hand, they should raise to force weaker hands into the pot and increase the value of their hand.<\/p>\n
